Meet the Board

Miles Hampton – Chairman

Mr Hampton joined Hobart Water as the Chairman of the Board of Management in January 2006. Mr Hampton was, until September 2006, Managing Director of public company Roberts Ltd, a position he held for nearly 20 years.

He has also been a Director of public companies Ruralco Holdings Limited and HMA Limited. Mr Hampton is currently a Director of Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees Limited, Forestry Tasmania and Impact Fertilisers Pty Ltd. Mr Hampton holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the University of Tasmania. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia; a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries.

Graham O’Byrne - Director

Mr O’Byrne joined the Board of Management in 2007 and is currently Production Manager at Impact Fertiliser Pty Ltd. Graham has 20 years experience as a director, manager and consulting engineer. He has previously held positions as General Manager, Construction with Roaring 40s (Hydro Tasmania), General Manager of Ionik Consulting in Melbourne, and Director of  Johnstone McGee and Gandy.   

Holding a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural) from UTAS, Mr O’Byrne has managed and engineered a range of significant projects in Australia and overseas. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Australia.  

Tiina-Liisa Sexton - Director

Mrs Sexton is professional standards adviser to CPA Australia and is their representative on the ASX Corporate Governance Council. She was previously CPA Australia's technical adviser to the IFAC International Ethics Standards Board.

She was formerly a director of Aurora Energy Pty Ltd and Connect Credit Union and is company secretary of Woodlands Wines Pty Ltd. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Member of CPA Australia, Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Lyndon Stephenson – Director

Mr Stephenson is an independent consulting engineer with particular skills in management of multi-disciplinary projects in the fields of offshore engineering and resource development. His corporate experience includes Managing Partner of Stephenson Maunsell and Partners, Executive Director of Maunsell Pty Ltd and Chief Executive of  SEMF Pty Ltd. His service includes periods on the National Executive of the Association of Consulting Engineers Australia, and on technical committees of The Australian Welding Research Association.

Mr Stephenson hold a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, a Masters Degree in Engineering Science, is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and is a non-executive director of Crisp Bros and Haywards. 

Elizabeth Thomas - Director

Ms Thomas joined the Board in January 2007. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tasmania (UTAS) and after working interstate, in 1994 she was the first woman to be appointed as Public Trustee in Tasmania.

Ms Thomas holds numerous other directorships; she is a Director of the Board of The Public Trustee and the UTAS Foundation and a Member of the Police Review Board and the Tasmanian Police Tertiary Education Assistance Scheme. She is also Chairperson of The Public Trustee's Audit Committee and a Commissioner of the Tasmanian Gaming Commission.
