Over the last few years Hobart Water has begun assisting both its council owners and other councils in a range of areas outside of bulk water supply. These include:

- Operations & Maintenance,

- Fluoridation services.
Water Management Services
Hobart Water offers a number of services to local councils and organisations within the water industry. The vast array of services includes short and long-term water management solutions, asset review and management, review and upgrade of critical infrastructure, capital works and catchment management.
Recently Hobart Water signed separate Memorandum of Understandings with Glamorgan Spring Bay Council, Huon Council, Tasman Council and Central Highlands Council to assist in water planning for the future.

Consulting
Hobart Water's Project Implementation and Water Infrastructure divisions comprise specialist water engineers. These divisions can offer engineering/project management consultancy to local businesses/organisations.

Operations & Maintenance
In 2006-07, Hobart Water signed long-term agreements with Derwent Valley Council and Glamorgan Spring Bay Council to undertake their water and waste water operations & maintenance.
These agreements allows Hobart Water's significant technical resources and expertise to be used to manage council's water systems and any difficulties as they arise.
Water Sampling
Hobart Water conducts water sampling for numerous council customers. The tests include:
- Daily chemical and physical tests,
- Weekly microbiological tests,
- Quarterly analysis of approximately 52 water quality parameters,
- Spot checks after heavy rainfalls in catchments to identify adverse changes to the quality of water flowing into the dams, and
- General chlorine, fluoride and taste tests.

Chlorine carting services
As part of Hobart Water's treatment processes, chlorine is added to water to eliminate harmful pathogens. Hobart Water provides chlorine cartage and storage to organisations within the water industry.

Fluoridation services
The Tasmanian Government is required under the Fluoridation Act 1968 to empower water authorities in Tasmania to fluoridate public water supplies. Since April 2004, Hobart Water has carried out this obligation for Glamorgan Spring Bay, Huon Valley and Southern Midlands Councils under contract to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Hobart Water works with the Department of Health and Human Services to maintain the performance and reliability of the southern fluoride systems. Fore more information, click here
